Log Home Shells
It doesn't take long to learn that in the log home industry, it is very hard to compare "apples to apples". Each log home company has a list of items that they include with their log shell or package. As a handcrafter we like to keep it simple. For your home we provide all the logs and timbers necessary to construct the house. That's it. If we don't build it, we do not need to sell it.
Our construction drawings give you a clear understanding of what is included with the log shell that you are purchasing. In the compared pictures you will see a rendering model of the completed home and beside it you will see a model of the log shell. In the interest of comparing "apples to apples," remember that we personally deliver each hand-crafted home and assemble it for you. These log shells are not just a truckload of logs that you need to figure out how to put together. We have assembled every log home that we have ever sold. Period.

The more you look at the log shell models, the more we may look like timberframe or post and beam timberwrights. We have a reputation of being a hybrid log home builder. We incorporate many timberframe elements into our homes. For example, in the Bauer Residence you will see that only the center section of the house is log. The rest of the home is post and beam with board and batten siding. Combine those elements with the "log-a-tecture" entries and overhangs and you have a very unique hybrid log home full of mountain living elements.
